Veterans are one of our most vulnerable populations considering many veteran-specific health care facilities are quite a distance out of the county. The Knox County Community Health Center family of locations are here to help bridge that gab and make health care services more conveniently located and extremely affordable thanks to our foundation of federal funding.

Challenges in obtaining health care you have experienced

I have been disabled due to an accident since 2015. I have chronic pain, and it has been hard recently to get treatment.

How has the Health Center helped take care of your health care needs?

Since I turned 65 this month, I needed help understanding how the switch to Medicare works. Lillian was able to set up a meeting with an insurance agent who helped me choose the best plan for my needs. I have a hard time reaching out and asking for help, I just don't know what to say. We completed forms for other assistance with utilities, food, and housing. She reached out to Interchurch, Salvation Army, and Veterans Services.
