3/1/2021 - If you have been wishing more COVID-19 vaccine would be available in Knox County – your wish has come true – at least for this week.

Knox Public Health has announced the availability of 600 doses of COVID-19 vaccine to be distributed at two walk-in clinics for those age 65 and older.

The clinics will be held Wednesday (Mar. 3) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Friday (Mar. 5) from noon to 2 p.m. Both clinics will be held at the Mount Vernon Energy Field House. Wednesday’s clinic will offer the two-dose Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine; Friday’s clinic will offer the new one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

Residents who had already been scheduled for appointments or were instructed to come during designated times on Wednesday and Friday, should still come to the clinic as scheduled. The walk-in clinics are for people who do not have an appointment. Vaccine will be administered on a first come, first serve basis.

Clinic attendees will need to bring a photo ID and a copy of their insurance card. There are no out-of-pocket costs for the vaccine. For those unable to walk into the field house, curbside vaccination is available by notifying the parking attendant when you arrive at the clinic.

Vaccine consent forms are available on the health department website www.knoxhealth.com or can be picked up at the health department, 11660 Upper Gilchrist Rd., Mount Vernon. Having a completed consent form prior to arriving at the clinic expedites the check in process, but is not necessary as there will be plenty of consent forms on site.
