WIC is a nutritional education program. WIC provides nutritious foods which promote good health for pregnant women, women who just had a baby, breastfeeding moms, infants and children up to age 5.

Who is eligible for WIC?
Women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a baby less than six months old, plus infants and children up to five years old, are eligible to apply for WIC.

What does WIC provide?

  • Nutritional education and support
  • Breastfeeding education and support
  • Referral for health care
  • Immunization screening and referral
  • Supplemental foods like: Milk, Cereal, Juice, Eggs, Peanut Butter, Beans, Infant Formula, Tuna Fish and Carrots

How do I apply?
All it takes is a visit to your local WIC clinic to see if you qualify.
Call the WIC office at 392-2200 to schedule an appointment to meet with a WIC staff member.

What do I need to bring?

  • Proof of income (current pay stub, current Medicaid Card or approval letter for Healthy Start, Ohio Works First or Food Stamps)
  • Proof of address (utility or credit bill, or Ohio driver's license)
  • Proof of identity for you and any applicants (birth certificate, driver's license, Medicaid card, crib card or shot record)
  • All family members applying for WIC services
  • If pregnant, bring a doctor's statement showing due date
  • Children's shot records

Breastfeeding makes difference
WIC recommends breastfeeding for all of its pregnant mothers. There are lots of reasons to consider breastfeeding, but your child is the most important one of all.

Breastfed babies have less:

  • Allergies
  • Ear aches
  • Illnessess
  • Weight Problems
  • Tooth Decay
  • Diarrhea

WIC offers free breastfeeding classes, twice a month. Our breastfeeding consultant can work, one-on-one with you to answer your questions, curb your fears, offer advice and demonstrate techniques.
