There are five divisions at the Knox County Health Department:
Administrative Services & Operations
Includes: the offices of the Health Commissioner, Human Resources,
Vital Statistics, billing, accounts payable, purchase requests, budgets.
Environmental Health Services
Includes: the inspection and issuing of permits and licenses for: Residential Sewage Systems; Private Water Wells; Food Safety Program; Campgrounds, Camps and RV Parks; Manufactured Home Parks; Public Swimming Pools and Beaches; and Tattoo and Body Piercing Parlors; plus the Solid Waste Program (nuisance complaint investigations), Vector Control (mosquito and ticks), Radon Testing and Rabies Control and Dog Bite Investigations.
Planning, Education and Promotion
Includes: management of educational grants; coordination of coalitions and educational presentations; community assessment and data collection; participation at fairs, festivals and other events; and promotion of services and programs.
Community Health Services
Includes: the Medical Clinic, Dental Clinic, WIC Program, BCMH and Emergency Preparedness.
Home Health Services
Includes: provision of health services in the patient's home by registered nurses, physical therapists and home health aides.
